Did You Know An Antiaging Diet
Can Keep You Young?

What Is An Antiaging Diet?

It is a diet comprised of many types of foods known to have health benefits and slow down aging. Sometimes these foods are called superfoods.

It’s best to avoid processed and fast foods, which are loaded in fats, sugars, fillers and unpronounceable chemicals. These are the foods which are thought to be causing rampant obesity and disease. It's wise to choose natural sweeteners to satisfy your sweet tooth.

What Are the Healthiest Foods?

The healthiest foods are found in their natural state. They are high fiber foods - whole grains such as oats and barley. They are fruits and vegetables. They are antiaging spices. They are legumes such as beans and lentils along with nuts. They not only fill you up but they can help you control your cholesterol level and prevent heart disease. Eating nutritious foods can help prevent certain cancers as well as Type 2 diabetes.

Here are some superfoods.

Cooking certain foods can destroy essential nutrients so it’s a good idea to eat as many raw foods as possible.

If you can afford organic foods, grown without pesticides and hormones, even better. The fewer chemicals added to our food, the better for us.

If you want to sweeten food, a natural sweetener, such as honey, used sparingly is best. My sister who is diabetic, after much research, swears by Stevia when she wants to add sugar.

Meat or Vegetarian?

There is much controversy over eating meat or being vegetarian. Sometimes it’s hard for a total vegetarian to get the protein they need. There are pros and cons to both. Cutting down on red meat is definitely a good idea. It contains more saturated fat than chicken and it’s hard for our bodies to digest. Because it sits in our intestines longer than other foods it makes our digestive system work overtime. White meat such as chicken and fish can provide lots of essential protein to keep our muscles strong.

A weight control diet would be where three quarters of your plate is filled with vegetables and fruits and one quarter with protein – that would be a piece of chicken or fish the size of your palm. Most people, including me, eat far more then they need to.

Do We Need Dietary Supplements?

Are there antiaging supplements that help you stay healthy? Definitely. It’s important to do your research because there’s a lot of hype and false claims out there. Look for products backed by science.

If a person eats healthy, nutritious foods, do they still need to take vitamins? In this day and age yes. Why? Due to poor growing practices and soil depletion and general pollution, the broccoli we eat today does not contain the good nutrients it did fifty years ago.

Picking fruits such as bananas, cantaloupe and tomatoes green, is a common practice. This is so they can be shipped around the world. These foods, although they provide good fiber, rob you of disease-fighting agents which only form in the fruit if it’s vine ripened. Food-form vitamins can give your body what it is missing from your food.

An antiaging diet would consist of pure foods, grown close to home. It would be heavy in the fruits and vegetables and low in fats and sugars.

An added benefit of eating this way can be a more youthful complexion.

Avoid GMOs as much as possible. Accelerated aging is one of the dangers of genetically modified foods.
